Good morning sa mga kababayan. I am new to this forum. I have been working outside of the Philippines for the past few years and have been following up on the latest news about our country daily. It saddens my heart to hear that our country has not really improved 22 years after marshall law. After Democracy was reinstituted in our country, everyone had high hopes of bringing the Philippines towards a better future. There will be freedom, economy will be thriving, unemployment will go down, there will be more people in the middle class.
It is sad to see 22 years after (Marcos was president for 20 years) that our country is not any better...in some respects even worse. A lot of bickering between political oppositions, graft and corruption at all time high, politicians with nothing in mind but to build their own resources at the expense of the taxpayers, etc.. etc..
I still believe there is a chance for us Filipinos. With all the things that has happened recently, I believe this is the right time to make a change. A moral change. Some people like Jun Lozada have already stepped up to the plate, even placing his own and his family's life in danger.
Now what kind of change is the best for us, you may ask? I believe the Filipino People are already tired of walking hand in hand along EDSA, kapit bisig from Ortigas to Makati waiting for a miracle like the Military pulling out their support. It is highly unlikely to happen since it was already established that those in the Military heirarchy were the ones who had a hand in getting her into power.
This so called "resign movement" will not work as well, since the next in power will not be acceptable to majority of the Filipinos. GMA has already played that reasoning too many times that the next alternative is not a good alternative (But who is she to decide for everyone, right?). Now, neither a Junta o so called, civilians and military since they don't have the right to be in power as well, even the Chief Justice.
So where are we left now? A SNAP ELECTION! After thinking every day, what would be the best solution to get out of the mess where we are in right now without sacrificing our political, economic stability. The solution is not to have GMA resign and place somebody who has no right to lead our country but to have a SNAP election to determine who our people would want to lead them. If GMA believes that she still has the support of the people and there are only a minority of opposition making a loud noice, then she should be confident with a snap election. In the US, that is acceptable. They do a Recall Vote, if the population has lost confidence in the leader.
As far as I know, Congressman Jocson has already spearheaded a house bill for a snap election. I will look for his website and will gladly put my name as an online petitioner. I believe this is the smartest thing for our country right now. The filipino people should be able to make their decision who they want to lead their country at this point.
So this is a call for change. there were already some efforts by some people, let this be your moment to make our country great again! Good Luck and Mabuhay!
