Dear Sen. Lacson,
I am one of the many people who admire your politics. Especially your stand against corruption in the government and your no nonsense approach to crime.
As a senator I am well aware that investigating corruption in the local government level is not part of your job anymore. But I'm not taking any chances anymore. I have reported the corruption in our city to the proper authorities and until now nothing has been done about it. My city, the City of La Carlota in Negros Occ. is bleeding from rampant corruption. The corruption is perpetrated by local officials. Through conspiracy by those in the seat of authority my beloved city's resources has been systematically plundered. These people have been emboldened by the inaction of proper authorities and the silence of the general population. Nobody dares to complain. Those who complain are either threatened or bought, even the people in the media here are afraid. The corruption here is in bold display in the form of over budgeted but unfinished infrastructure projects, unpaid salaries of government employees, appointment of unqualified person in public office and the City's over-drafted coffers.
This may be too general for a report to be acted upon. But there is one thing that can be done about it and that is an independent and impartial audit investigation. As the saying goes, between the great things we cannot do and the little things we won't do, the danger is we will do nothing.
Our dear Senator, I pray that if possible you send people here to conduct an independent and impartial audit investigation, a small thing we can do, to send a message to these people and to the general public that corruption in any form must not be tolerated. More power to you!
